Activities

CETS is starting new efforts to achieve a reliable and influential position among the associations in Europe.  The following two working groups have been created in order to assist: –

Regulatory Affairs Working Group

Representing CETS members (national associations of EU member states) and their member companies at EU level, with the aim to reduce red-tape and lessen the burden of political developments.

Technical & Standards Working Group

Representing CETS members (national associations of EU member states) and their member companies at EU level in respect of European Standards; best practice guidance; promotion of best available techniques (BAT) and the development of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).


CETS at European Court

On 12th February 2015, the European General Court in Luxembourg conducted an oral hearing of Case t-360/13. The case was brought against the European Commission by VECCO, supported by a number of Trade Associations and end users of surface engineering components.

CETS at SME Week 2014
EU 2020 and Industrial Competitiveness:  SMEs in the Surface Engineering Sector

On 13 November 2014, Austrian MEP Paul Rübig hosted a breakfast briefing in the European Parliament on the topic of EU 2020 and Industrial Competitiveness: SMEs in the Surface Engineering Sector.  The event was attended by more than 50 stakeholders. Among the participants were representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the EU Permanent Representations and the Missions of third countries to the EU.  Industry was also present as well as relevant SMEs, notably Dave Elliott, Chief Executive of the Surface Engineering Association & President of CETS.

CETS Working Breakfast in the European Parliament

On the 19th of March 2014, MEP Paul Rübig and SME Europe hosted a breakfast briefing in the
European Parliament on the topic of “Surface Engineering – European SMEs for a Global Sustainable
Manufacturing Future”. The event was organized by the European Committee for Surface
Treatment (CETS) and SME Europe, an organization with the purpose of supporting EU policies for
SMEs.

On 5 November 2013, MEP Paul Rübig hosted a breakfast briefing in the European Parliament on the topic of REACH: One of the Ten Most Burdensome Pieces of Legisl ation for SMEs.  The event was attended by various stakeholders from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the EESC, industry and relevant SMEs notably Dave Elliott, Chief Executive of the Surface Engineering Association & President of CETS and Johannes Lusser, Member of the Board, Collini Group.
