The 2026–2028 Roadmap: From Representation to Influence

Posted on

CETS is launching its 2026–2028 strategic development programme, following the strategic discussion with members held at the end of March.

This initiative marks an important step in the evolution of CETS as a stronger European voice for the surface treatment industry. The programme aims to move the organisation from occasional and reactive intervention towards a more structured, continuous and professional representation model at EU level.

The strategy is built around four core pillars:

Connect – strengthening direct contacts with European institutions, authorities, technical bodies and partner organisations;

Engage – increasing participation in consultations, working groups, committees and institutional discussions;

Transform – developing a structured policy process instead of relying only on ad hoc reactions;

Strengthen – improving the visibility, credibility and long-term influence of CETS as a recognised stakeholder.

At the centre of the programme is a recurring policy cycle based on five stages: Monitor, Interpret, Align, Act and Report. This method is intended to ensure that relevant regulatory developments are identified early, assessed technically, discussed with members and translated into coordinated action.

A key priority is now the development of a stronger technical expert network across national associations. The nomination and active involvement of national experts will be essential to support CETS on the main regulatory files, including REACH 2.0, Cr(VI), PFAS, occupational exposure limits, IED and the STM BREF review.

With this roadmap, CETS is working to consolidate its role as a constructive, technically credible and coordinated platform for the European surface treatment sector.
